Veli Kreci
About Me
Dr. Kreci is a Full Professor of Public Policy at the Faculty of Contemporary Social Sciences, South East European University (SEEU), North Macedonia, where he also serves as Director of the Max van der Stoel Institute and Vice President of the SEEU University Board. His academic career spans two decades of distinguished engagement in higher education, research, and institutional leadership, with affiliations extending from SEEU to the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), USA.
His scholarly work centers on comparative public policy, electoral studies, public administration reform, decentralization, and innovation in governance at both local and national levels. He is the author and co-author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and has served as lead researcher and coordinator of several national and international academic research projects. He currently holds the position of Principal Project Manager, SEEU, of the EU co-funded ChallengeEU – European University Alliances project.
Dr. Kreci is an internationally recognized academic, regularly invited as a visiting lecturer at universities across Europe and beyond. Among his distinguished international appointments, he served as Adjunct Professor at Seattle University (WA, USA) in 2019, where he delivered an intensive graduate course on Effective Policy Making in the European Union. He was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (2013–2014), and a Research Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, GSPIA (2009).
Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Kreci served as Assistant Director of the Graduate Center for Public Policy and Management (GCPPM), a GSPIA initiative in North Macedonia, and as Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Contemporary Social Sciences, SEEU.
Dr. Kreci holds a PhD in Political Sciences from South East European University, a Master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA), USA, and an undergraduate degree in Political Sciences from Istanbul University, Turkey.
