About Me

Albinota Nuredini is a Specialist for Research Support within the Environment and Health Group at the Max van der Stoel Institute (MVDSI), South East European University (SEEU). She is also a PhD candidate in Economics at SEEU. Her research focuses on air quality, environmental health, sustainability, and the economic dimensions of environmental challenges in North Macedonia and the Western Balkans. She also teaches Econometrics at undergraduate and master’s levels at SEEU’s Faculty of Business and Economics.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Banking from SEEU and an MSc in Air Pollution Management and Control from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, which she completed with Distinction. Her master’s research investigated air quality and its potential health impacts in Kičevo, North Macedonia, analysing multiple air pollutants and their temporal variations in relation to mortality rates.

Albinota serves as Project Manager of the Green Schools Initiative (GSI): Enhancing Energy Efficiency, Renewable Heating, and Sustainability in Education, an EU-funded project under the IPA III Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Kosovo–North Macedonia. The project combines energy-efficiency interventions, renewable heating solutions, environmental education, and cross-border cooperation to support the transition towards greener and more sustainable schools.

Albinota is also a McCall MacBain Clean Air Fellow, an experience that has further strengthened her commitment to addressing air-pollution challenges through interdisciplinary research, international collaboration, and evidence-based policy.

  • 1 July 2026 – Article Accepted in the International Journal of Public Sector Performance Management
    First author of the peer-reviewed article “The role of university climate initiatives in shaping municipal sustainability practices: the case of Tetovo,” accepted for publication and currently in press in the International Journal of Public Sector Performance Management. The study examines SEEU’s Climate Action Plan and the role of university-led climate initiatives, institutional collaboration, and data-driven governance in supporting climate mitigation and sustainable urban development in Tetovo, North Macedonia.   • 11–12 June 2026 – 9th International Scientific Conference on Business and Economics (ISCBE 2026), Valencia, Spain
    Served as a member of the Organizing Committee of the 9th International Scientific Conference on Business and Economics (ISCBE 2026), held in Valencia, Spain, under the theme “Future-Ready Economies: Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Competitiveness.” Also contributed as an author, with a research paper selected for publication in the forthcoming Springer Nature proceedings, Future-Ready Economies: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Digital Competitiveness (Vol. 1).

  • 1 June 2026 – Project Manager, Green Schools Initiative (GSI)
    Took on the role of Project Manager for the EU-funded Green Schools Initiative (GSI): Enhancing Energy Efficiency, Renewable Heating, and Sustainability in Education, implemented under the IPA III Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Kosovo–North Macedonia. The project promotes energy efficiency, renewable heating, environmental education, and cross-border cooperation in schools.

  • January 2026 – Research Publication in Environmental Science: Atmospheres
    Published the research paper “Air pollution in the shadow of global crises: lessons from a small city in the Western Balkans” in Environmental Science: Atmospheres, a Royal Society of Chemistry journal. The study contributes to the evidence base on air pollution dynamics and environmental challenges in smaller urban areas of the Western Balkans.

  • 10 June 2025 – EURA 2025 Conference
    Presented a joint paper on urban resilience, sustainability, and environmental health, contributing to discussions on the environmental and sustainability challenges facing contemporary cities.
