During the Democracy, Human Rights, and Peace Building International Conference: 25th Anniversary of NATO Intervention in Kosovo, organized by the Clinton School of Public Service in partnership with the University of Prishtina, Albulena Halili presented her study titled “NATO’s Intervention in Kosovo: A Turning Point in Global Security and Balkan History”. The conference was held at the University of Prishtina from March 26th to 28th, 2024.
This conference brought together practitioners, policy makers, and scholars to reflect on the lessons of the humanitarian intervention in Kosovo and the developments in the last 25 years that offer both challenges and opportunities for democracy, peace, and security not only in Southeastern Europe, but around the globe.
The conference’s first day focused on state-building, discussing its importance for EU membership progression and measures to uphold democratic practices. The second day explored security and peacebuilding post-NATO intervention in Kosovo, including the roles of women and challenges in the global geopolitical landscape. Transitional justice was also examined, addressing its definition, significance in state-building, and achieving lasting peace.
