A delegation from the South East European University, within the project “ESPLORADO”, from 10-13 May, paid a working visit to the University Franche-Comté, in Besançon, France.
The delegation consisted of the Vice Rector for International Cooperation and Research, Besa Arifi and representatives of the Max van der Stoel Institute, Veli Kreci, Director of the Institute, Mennan Selimi, Senior Research Associate, Albulena Halili, Researcher and Bujar Sinani, Head of the Office for International Relations at SEEU.
During their stay in France, SEEU representatives held meetings at the Department of Science and Energy and the Department of Multimedia and Informatics, the Department of Applied Foreign Languages, the Faculty of Literature, Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as the Faculty of Law, Economics, Politics and Governance, respectively in the research-scientific centers which function within these faculties.
SEEU representatives also visited the FEMTO-ST which is a joint research unit affiliated with the French National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS), the University of Franche-Comté (UFC), the National School of Mechanical Engineering and Microtechnology and covers research areas such as optics, nanotechnology and systems, computer science, mechatronics, energy and electrical engineering.
In addition to cooperation in the field of education and scientific research, ESPLORADO envisages the exchange of experiences at the local level of the two municipalities Tetovo-Besançon and the strengthening of ties with the diaspora. To this end, SEEU representatives were welcomed by the representatives of the municipality of Besançon, and participated in a meeting with the Albanian Diaspora in Besançon organized by Franche Comté University.
Upcoming activities foresee the participation of ten students from the South East European University in the two summer schools organized at the Franche Comté University: the one for Micro, Nano and Smart Technologies, as well as the summer school for the Rule of Law and the European Union.
During the visit, other working sessions were held where various opportunities were discussed regarding the possibility of providing joint diplomas, internships in research, as well as the realization of joint research activities in order to deepen the partnership between the two universities.
ESPLORADO project (Development of internationalization and interdisciplinary approach to study programs and research), is a collaboration between the South East European University and the Franche-Comté University in France, supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Europe with the goal of a renewed commitment of France in the Western Balkans region.
